Create Your Own Cloud on the Cheap and Grow Your Business
Cloud computing is popular these days. You can turn your software into a subscription service using it or host a massive database for whatever industry you are in. Desktop software sells but the value of having a cloud is that you can store large database software and scale it to a larger audience. Software as Service solutions and Desktop as Service Solutions have become increasingly popular. Sometimes you might want to use a cloud like Heroku or Floydhub to host your app but this often does not work if your solution is not meant to be a web app because it is too large. Other options would include AWS or Google Cloud, but these are expensive. A cheaper alternative is VPS clouds, which are distributed across networks to offer cheap cloud hosting. For as little as $2.50 a month you can get a cloud VPS on Virmach or other VPS sites. My application is large so I used the $10 a month option.
This way anyone who had the password and hostname for my domain could access the desktop. You could set up a web site for your company and put a form for your web store on a site like Wix through Paypal or Stripe that allows you to automate payments on a monthly basis. Once a customer paid, it would send an email with the password to access the virtual machine. Obviously you would have to change the password every once in awhile and keep in touch with your customers.
For B2B software, it might not be necessary to sell your software to a large audience like say Facebook has for B2C models. Your goal would…
