In addition to offering software in the cloud and on the desktop, our bigger goal will be to land freelance contracts. Here we will discuss fees, skill sets, contracts, mailing lists, and growth.
First let’s talk fees. You can charge hourly, by unit, quantity based ie per word, foot, dozen, project fee, day rate, percentage of products. When figuring out your fees, track your time. Calculate billable time, purchases with the project and overhead — what it costs to keep the lights on. You should calculate your basic hourly rate with this formula — (annual salary + annual expenses + annual profit) divided by annual billable work hours
When billing consider the scope of the project, the price and the people involved.
